News: Connecticut Man Fakes Death to Avoid Wedding
Why has faking your death become the new way to get out of handling respopnsibilities?
First we had a man fake his death to get out of paying for child support now this bizarre story has surfaced. According to Daily Mirror, Tucker Blandford faked his death to get out of marrying British woman, Alex Lanchester.
Apparently Alex had started making plans for her wedding, buying a dress, picking out bridesmaids, and their dresses. Everything was running smoothly in the planning process, until Tucker Blandford called her pretending to be his father with awful news. It seems as though Tucker was having second thoughts about marriage. Instead of breaking off the engagement like any sensible person would he decided to fake his own death. “Alex, this is Tucker’s dad. There’s no easy way to say this… I am sorry to say that Tucker is dead.” Tucker’s “father” claimed that he was suffering from depression and jumped in front of a car.
This is where things took a turn for the worst. A grieving Lanchester called Tucker’s mother to understand what happened. Blandford’s mother had no idea what she was talking about stating Tucker was alive and well.
The couple met at the University of Connecticut in 2012. When it was time for Alex to return to the UK, Tucker asked her to marry him in hopes she’d be able to stay in America. Things turned for the worst when Tucker wouldn’t show up for his visit. “He said he had been arrested for taking alcohol to a party with underage teens,” she reveals. “He explained he had to go to court and couldn’t leave the country. I understood, but was still distraught.” To ease her pain he told her to set a date, August 15, for their wedding to take place on the University’s campus.
To add insult to injury, Blanchard’s mother had no idea the couple was still getting married. She was under the impression that they had broken up when she left America.
Alex has since turned her life around and started her own wedding planning company. Hopefully she will forget this all happened and think twice about rushing into a botched engagement. We can’t help but chuckle at these series of unfortunate events.
